President Emmanuel Macron of France was not completely satisfied a few current exhibition at an artwork centre on the French Caribbean island of Guadeloupe that confirmed him beheaded along with his neck dripping in blood.
The gory piece was included within the exhibition Exposé.e.s au chlordécone (uncovered to chlordecone), which opened in January on the Centre des Arts in Pointe-à-Pitre. In accordance with native press, the Kolèktif Rézistans collective, a trio of artists, organised the headline-hitting exhibition, which the French authorities considers “an incitement to violence”.
The French newspaper Midi Libre says that an artist referred to as Blow made the work, which raises considerations about chlordecone, a harmful insecticide used on Guadeloupe and Martinique banana plantations 40 years in the past.
It’s unclear how the case will proceed (the French overseas affairs ministry didn’t reply to a request for remark). Clearly, don’t point out Marie-Antoinette…
