The on line casino conglomerate MGM has backed a brand new modern artwork award in partnership with Artwork Basel Hong Kong. The inaugural prize, often called the MGM Discoveries Artwork Prize, was awarded right this moment to the South Korean artist Shin Min, who’s displaying her set up Ew! Shin receives a $50,000 money prize, to be shared between the artist and her gallery, P21 in Seoul. In line with an MGM assertion, she may also be provided a chance to “interact in inventive exchanges in Macau, additional inspiring artistic expression and concepts”.
“MGM hopes to introduce cutting-edge inventive developments into the town by inviting award-winning artists to Macau and galvanizing the youthful era to have interaction in inventive creation,” the corporate provides. MGM says on-line that it’s “a number one developer, proprietor and operator of gaming and lodging resorts in Better China”, overseeing casinos in Macau.
Prize judges embody Antonia Carver, the director of Artwork Jameel in Dubai, UAE, and Christopher Ok. Ho, the manager director of Asia Artwork Archive. The opposite shortlisted artists had been New York-based Kayode Ojo and Mumbai-based Saju Kunhan.
